Dresden is a Saxon metropolis located on the Elbe River several tens of kilometers from the borders of the Czech Republic. After the war, Dresden was in the 'socialist sector'. They went there not for cultural knowledge, but for shopping, or rather for prohibited “smuggling.” Former smugglers would not recognize Dresden today. It was completely restored, and Dresden once again became the “Florence of the North,” as it was called before the war. A trip to Dresden will not be tiring. An example of German precision is the Frauenkirche, the ruins of which were dismantled down to the last block, numbered, missing ones replaced with new ones, and the church restored to the original plan and rededicated in 2005. Another important monument of Dresden is the local Residenzschloss. Architecturally, this is one of the most beautiful buildings in Dresden. For four centuries the building was the residence of Saxon rulers. There was a fortress on the site of the 13th century castle, but it was abandoned by Augustus II at the beginning of the 18th century. Strong after the fire and built the castle in the Baroque style, and in 1914 it was rebuilt in the Neo-Renaissance style. The ruling Saxon dynasty abandoned the castle after the First World War. The castle turned into a pile of ruins during the Second World War, and complete reconstruction was completed only in 2013. Today the castle functions as a museum and offers several thematic rooms in which valuable collections of Saxon rulers are exhibited. The most visited is the Grünes Gewölbe, or Historic Green Vault. In particular, the middle generation does not understand it very well and sometimes uses German words to complement what is said. The result is a well-understood “European” language.
